Free in Deed
Free in Deed is a feature-length narrative about the troubles of an intensely religious man facing a reality devoid of miracles. Based on an actual event in which an eight year old autistic boy died during an attempt to perform a miraculous healing, the story constructs a fictional future for one of the men involved in the tragedy.

Accomplishments
Jake Mahaffy is a filmmaker and educator whose work is often spiritual and experimental. He has received grants from Creative Capital and the Guggenheim Foundation, and he was awarded the first Lynn Auerbach Screenwriting Fellowship by the Sundance Institute. His films have been shown in festivals worldwide, and he was designated as one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film” in 2005.

Jake Mahaffy’s Wellness was included in Cinevegas, and also shown with Inertia in the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Wellness, Mahaffy's award-winning feature narrative, examines several days in the life of a middle-aged pyramid scheme salesman. Inertia, the latest entry in Mahaffy’s motion study series, tracks a man running as hard and as long as he can in a full suit of Middle Age armor.

Jake Mahaffy’s Wellness premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival, and won the Grand Jury Prize at SXSW. This feature narrative examines several days in the life of a middle-aged pyramid scheme salesman. Additionally, Mahaffy’s short film Inertia was shown at Rotterdam and Sundance, and is now available to be downloaded online. This latest entry in Mahaffy’s motion study series tracks a man running as hard and as long as he can in a full suit of Middle Age armor.
