Accomplishments
Issa García is a narrative filmmaker whose work has received the Special Jury Award at the Jornada de Cortometraje Mexicano and Best Short Film and Best Director for a Short Film at the Muestra de Cine Mexicano. She received funding from the Hubert Bals Fund for development of her first feature film, Me vas a recordar. García studied film direction at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC) in Mexico City.

Issa GarcĂ­a AscotÂ’s film Ayss was shown in the Latin American Short Film Festival of New York in October. Set during a hot summer day in Barcelona, the short follows two menÂ’s plot to get rich at their bossÂ’ expense and the unexpected complications they experience.
