Accomplishments
Ernesto Contreras has screened his short films in various national and international festivals. Among other prizes, he received an Ariel in 2004 and Mayahuel Awards from the Muestra de Cine Mexicano in 1999 and 2000. He has participated in several workshops, including the Fundación Toscano and the Sundance Institute’s Screenplay Writing Lab and the Berlinale Talent Campus at the Berlin Film Festival. After studying advertising, Contreras studied film direction at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC).

Ernesto Contreras' Parpados azules | Blue Eyelids was shown at Sundance, where it was awarded the World Cinema Special Jury Prize in the Dramatic competition. It was also included in the Miami International Film Festival and the San Diego Latino Film Festival, both in March. His feature-length narrative debut navigates two lonely strangers’ romance.
