July. This short documentary explores personal and cultural memory by
juxtaposing Hollywood images of Japanese Americans and World War II
propaganda with stories from the filmmaker's family. April 2003 Rea Tajiri participated on the panel Women Documentarians: Telling It Like It Is at the New York Women in Film and Television 25th Anniversary at Lincoln Center in New York in March. March 2003 Rea Tajiri's History and Memory: For Akiko and Takeshige, an exploration of the Japanese-American experience through media reports, Hollywood clips and the maker's mother's personal memories of her interment during World War II, was shown in March at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's series 25 Years of Women Calling the Shots. |
